The reality of having a child sick and in the hospital can be incredibly overwhelming to parents and siblings. What the Ronald McDonald House is able to provide these families is a bit of stability in the midst of unthinkable circumstances. When a child is hospitalized, the comfort of having family nearby is beyond measure. It is this heartfelt purpose that both drives and defines Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio.
Serving Families in Need for Over Three Decades
For more than three decades, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio (RMHC) has been keeping families close at the Columbus, Ohio Ronald McDonald House. From its beginnings as a grassroots movement established by a partnership between volunteers and local McDonald’s Owner/Operators, the charity has served thousands of families in their deepest times of need.
My Friend Zoi Pappa came to me with an idea she had, to start collecting donations for RMHC by having a different event, once a month, from July until November. All the donations will be used to provide lunch or dinner for those families the RMHC serves on Christmas Day. Zoi met with Abigail Brummé, the Family Activities Manager at Ronald McDonald House and Abigail loved the idea! For me, this was a dream coming true, my heart jumped out of my chest. Helping others specifically those families who go through the difficulties of a hospitalized child brings me joy. Event planning is my passion and it's awesome to be able to help my community in this way.
Our July event was a Community Dance Bash here in Columbus, Ohio, Sunday, July 22nd at Rhyme’s Musique Fitness, where the owner and Dance Fitness instructor, Adé Afolabi @rhythmsmusique lead a dance class for an hour. It was followed by food and drinks and gifts were given away to the participants.
This time I don’t have pictures for you, but I have a short video of the event to show you how happy everyone was, not only because they were dancing and having a blast, but because they were genuine people who wanted to give with all of their hearts to a great cause, we collected $570 donations from this event. We have several more events planned through November. How could I not share with my followers this amazing experience I’ve had this past weekend!
I promise to keep you posted with the upcoming events, but in the meantime starting next week, we'll be back to fashion! #HappyCommunity
