Do Your Shoes and Purse Match?

Ladies! Do your shoes and purse match? I wonder if there’s one day that passes by that you do not ask yourself while you are getting ready; do I match my shoes and purse? I know I do.

For years, ladies made sure their shoes and purse matched. It did not matter if they were dressing up for a wedding , a dinner date or simply going out to the movies. Look at old pictures from the 70s and 80s. I bet you not one has a lady holding a white purse while wearing black shoes. I think a large part of it was times where simplistic back then. 

I grew up with a very stylish mother during the 70s and 80s. When she would take me shopping for her, the shelves were lined with matching shoes and purses. Now if you go shopping, the store has hundreds of different shoes and 20 or so purses; all with in a variety of colors and patterns.

I wonder if this is just a product of our modern times. Back in the day, gentleman took ladies out to dinner, asked their fathers for their hand in marriage.  Things changed and so did fashion. You hardly see “matchey-matchey” anymore.  However this trend is back.  You may look a little bit odd or bossy but if that’s what makes you happy, go for it.

 I’m a firm believer, one should do what makes them happy.  If your fashion sense is to wear yellow shoes today with a burgundy purse, throw on your aqua scarf and rainbow skirt on . . . DO IT! Be confident in your own skin as long as it has a taste of chic appearance.  If you’re one of those people who likes to break all the rules and discard the trend to create your own unique style, then rock it out all day long.
